Florida is very similar, except its not ocean. I flew in to Fort Lauderdale pretty late at night. There is a highway on the western side that separates the city from the Everglades, which are completely black except for one line of cars on a highway that goes west through the middle. It looked like they were on a bridge over water though, and really confused me at first. I felt the need to comment on what you said about the lights and the black of water.
